Reblog of the day: “Real Lawyers Have Blogs”

SD: They used to say, “All Roads Lead to Rome”. This notion can be adapted to the internet in the following way: to grow a presence, and be on people’s minds, you want to build as many roads as possible to your website.

I’ve been reading quite a bit of commentary about this sort of thing–the shift in usage from “home pages” to content-based links, and the fact that most people get to websites these days through articles, commentary and so on, rather than by navigating to a main page for the corporation, firm, individual or brand. So, it makes sense to provide as many routes as possible to get to you, and to remind people that you exist.

The legal profession isn’t always the most on top of these sorts of new ideas and models, which makes me all the more pleased and gratified to be articling at a place that has not simply been enacting this approach, but has been truly proactive in implementing such a model. It’s exciting to be at the leading edge.
